Poland - Kulczyk Foundation Grant Competition

8th series of Kulczyk Foundation’s Grant Competition is held based on new rules – financial supported can be granted to initiatives run by women or projects whose aim is to improve the situation of gender discriminated women and girls.

Polish non-government organisations, associations, foundations, cultural institutions, social entrepreneurships, and even entities run by local and regional authorities can participate in the Kulczyk Foundation Grant Competition. However, there is one condition – these must be women or girls who are the beneficiaries or entities holding the notified projects.

By organizing another series of the Grant Competition, Kulczyk Foundation wants to support such social initiatives which hold the projects aimed at women who are struggling with the problem of gender discrimination in their social and political lives. The aim of the foundation’s promoted actions is to build the reality where being a woman is not an obstacle to free access to a profession, opportunity to develop and realizing their passions.

The maximum amount one can apply for is 25,000. Applications for the competition should be submitted between 31st March to 30th June 2020, by filling in a form (link - in Polish). Apllications can be sent by post to: Kulczyk Foundation, ul.Krucza 24/26, 00-526 Warszawa (with “Granty KF”) or by e-mail to: granty@kulczykfoundation.org.pl. Applications will be considered until 15th September 2020 by the competition jury. The competition has been held since 2015. So far, the competition jury have announced 30 winners in its seven series. Up until recently, infrastructural projects, which have permanently changed the space for the advantage of the most needy groups, have been promoted. Thanks to the non-refundable Kulczyk Foundation’s grant it was possible to modernize Stacja Ratunkowa (Rescue Station) GOPR in Klimczok, build a kitchen at the self-dependent workshops in Zofiówka for orphans, create a reading room for people with autism and intellectual disabilities in Warsaw, or support little patients of Szpital Dziecięcy (Children’s Hospital) in Lublin.

Documentaries

Our documentaries shine a light on community problems in different parts of the world, and present organisations and local unsung heros who benefit from our support. In Poland, the Domino Effect TV series is created in cooperation with TVN - the largest private television in Poland. Through this work, we are able to reach those who might have never heard about a specific issue or the way in which they can help. This partnership results in a number of long form documentaries, which have been recognised at international film festivals. As part of our partnership with the CNN Freedom Project, we also produce a series of documentaries for English speaking audience. The series explores the issues of modern slavery and human trafficking, and is regularly broadcast on CNN International.

Educational programs

Since the beginning of its existence, the Kulczyk Foundation has been working to shape the socio-emotional competences of children and adolescents. We prepare unique lesson plans adapted to various stages of education. These focus on explainining the complex world of universal values and emotions, encourage reflection and the ability to draw conclusions. Ultimately help to build knowledge about ourselves and the world, and to shape attitudes towards the reality that surrounds us. As part of this commitement, we also provide workshops, conferences for teachers and faculty staff. We believe that wise education, implemented in a spirit of freedom and empathy, is a basic component of sustainable development for every human being, as well as a chance for a good start in adult life. No matter where they are from.
