Kulczyk Foundation supports the "360 Degrees" programme run by the Juanfe Foundation, which helps young and teenage mothers from Colombian Cartagena become economically independent and resilient women. By escaping the cycle of poverty, they can give their children a chance for a better future.
Education is the most important pillar of the "360 Degrees" programme as it helps teenage mothers to understand the importance of physical and mental health, conflict resolution methods, and financial independence. The programme takes two years to complete, and consists of three phases. The first phase focuses on psychosocial therapy, the second allows girls to get a certified technical education, and the third focuses on developing their entrepreneurship skills by establishing strategic alliances with private companies.
Through our partnership with the Juanfe Foundation, they were able to employ the necessary staff to implement the "360 Degrees" programme – including psychologists, social workers, nurses, and counsellors. We have also financed a nutrition programme for beneficiaries, consultations with gynaecologists, as well as workshops for programme participants.
The 3-year grant (2019-2021) from Kulczyk Foundation will help achieve the following results:
- 900 teenage mothers will receive psychosocial support
- 630 teenage mothers will receive a certified technical education, allowing them to access formal and well-paid employment
- at least 900 teenage mothers will have a better chance to gain employment or self-employed in Cartagena.
