13th Mastercard OFF CAMERA – the film September not only in Krakow

Events

As the event’s organizers point out, COVID-19 changed this year’s May Festival into an Autumn Independent Cinema Celebration. Due to particular circumstances Mastercard OFF CAMERA Festival will use customized forms of projection – film shows on www.player.pl ,car cinema, and “Cinema out of window”.

- The pandemic has been and still is a lesson to all of us. We are doing it and drawing conclusions. Thanks to our Partners’ help we are still able to support brave cinema and young creators. We are learning a new, virtual reality, thanks to which the Polish viewers will be able to know the festival repertoire and see what the independence cinema is like – emphasizes Szymon Miszczak, the Director of Festival.

The program of the festival consists of the first or second films from the creators from all over the world screened as part of the Main Competition “Making Way”. In turn, as part of the Polish Feature Films Competition, Polish productions will compete for the Kulczyk Foundation Award. Special sections are planned, as well: “Między nami kobietami” (“Between us women”), “Znowu w drodze” (“Again on the way”), “Tanie dreszcze” (“Cheap thrills”) and “Związki i rozwiązki” (“Relations and disrelations”). The fans of the festival will find something for themselves among film choices from the section “Panorama” (“Panorama”), “Festiwalowe Hity” (“Festival Hits”) or “Amerykańscy Niezależni” (“American Independent”).

The Mastercard OFF CAMERA festival has been accompanied by SerialCon for years. This year a special edition will be held which will last as long as 10 days – between 12th and 21st September. The fans of series will be able to join the events without leaving home! Both the creators standing in front of the camera – actors – and those who control the series world from behind – screenwriters, directors and producers will be talking about the work on the series. Bloggers, youtubers and film critics will be talking about what in the series universe is worth attention and which series should not be missed. In the evenings, the organizers invite you to SerialCon screenings of series with the participation of their creators you will be able to talk to after the screening.

Despite the fact that the festival moves to the virtual world, it does not break with its origins. The well-known locations in Krakow will be the background for the most interesting meetings. Every cinema lover will have a chance to see Oliver Janiak talking to the stars, interviewing the creators of Polish cinema and the program by Alicja Myśliwiec “2020. Plan B”. There will also be musical accents. The performers of the OFF STAGE have prepared special online concerts for fans of alternative sound.
