Kulczyk Foundation sets a new Global Ethical Standard
On December 4th at the Kulczyk Investments, 11 companies from the KI Group joined the Ethical Program - Global Compact Poland, thus adopting both a direction in their development that is based on the standards of ethics and sustainable development, as well as tools that are needed to implement and verify them.
This is a set of principles that should be followed by all companies operating in a responsible and sustainable way. The principles have been developed on the basis of, among others, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, UN Sustainable Development Goals, and 10 principles of the United Nations Global Compact.
The following companies have joined the group of signatories of the Standard developed by Global Compact Poland together with business partners:
· Autostrada Wielkopolska S.A.,
· Autostrada Wielkopolska II S.A.,
· Autostrada Eksploatacja S.A.,
· Polenergia S.A.,
· Elektrociepłownia Nowa Sarzyna Sp. z o.o.,
· CIECH S.A.,
· CIECH Pianki,
· CIECH Sarzyna,
· CIECH Vitrosilicon,
· CIECH Soda Polska,
· CIECH Soda Romania.
It was the first time that the companies of the Kulczyk Investments had signed such a Standard. A new Program of Ethical Standard developed by Global Compact Network Poland is a unique tool of management in the world. It was also the first time that such a Declaration had been signed by a foreign company – CIECH Soda Romania.
The Kulczyk Foundation joined the program last year, and is one of the most important leaders of the project “Ethics Standards in Poland”. Since that time, the Foundation has effectively contributed to the creation of the Standard, and has consistently set new, ambitious objectives. Including all of the companies of the Kulczyk Group has been a priority. Workshops for ethics and compliance specialists, as well as activities within companies, have resulted in accepting the Standard unanimously. As emphasized by the President of the Kulczyk Foundation, Dominika Kulczyk – “We cannot forget that what matters most is the human being. That’s why it’s crucial for the Kulczyk Investments Group to follow business ethics that is ingrained in our investment strategy and everyday work. I cannot imagine that one can do anything without the support of engaged people, and without respecting human rights and needs”.
Within the framework of the Program „Ethics Standard in Poland”, Dominika Kulczyk – the Chair of the Supervisory Board of Kulczyk Investments, the member of the Board of Global Compact Network Poland, and the ambassador of ethical standards and women rights in business, actively contributes and engages in the activities of the working party for equality and diversity at workplace.
On December 12th, Global Compact together with the Ombudsman cordially invites everyone to attend a conference “Ethical Standards and Women Rights in business”, which will summarize this year’s activity of the program “Business and human rights – Ethics Standards in Poland”. Next year, the Warsaw Stock Exchange is going to co-organize an event “Ring the bell for gender quality”, which will be a part of an international initiative of UN Global Compact and UN Women.
