  • Poland - Dr. Jan Kulczyk Scholarships for female and doctoral students at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań

The project began in 1999 with the first donation made to the Adam Mickiewicz University Foundation in Poznań by Grażyna and Jan Kulczyk, intended to establish a scholarship fund. A year later, donors provided further funds to strengthen the fund.

The Kulczyk family's gift to the Adam Mickiewicz University Foundation is one of the first and most spectacular donations, thanks to which the Foundation continues to financially support exceptionally talented people – students and doctoral students - to this day.

Watch the interview with Dominika Kulczyk about the Scholarship Program and investing in the education of young people:

Who can receive support under the Dr. Jan Kulczyk Scholarship Program?

Every year, scholarships are awarded to students and doctoral students of Adam Mickiewicz University who demonstrate excellent academic results, outstanding scientific achievements and are active in the interests of the University and its Community.

Since 2014, scholarships have also been awarded to Ukrainian students and doctoral students of Adam Mickiewicz University who, in addition to high grade averages, can boast outstanding scientific achievements, involvement in university life, social and cultural activities, or knowledge of several foreign languages.

Additionally, at the initiative of Ms. Dominika Kulczyk, the Dr. Jan Kulczyk Scholarship Program has been expanded to include the opportunity for winners to complete an internship at a company within the Kulczyk Investment capital group. This is intended to foster even greater rapprochement between science and business.

The process of awarding the Dr. Jan Kulczyk Scholarships

Recruitment for the scholarship program begins at the beginning of the academic year. Applicants submit their applications to the Dean of the Adam Mickiewicz University Faculty where they are studying. After conducting an initial substantive assessment, the Deans of the individual Faculties then submit their reviewed applications ( up to two student applications and two doctoral applications from the Faculty) to the Dr. Jan Kulczyk Scholarship Committee. The Committee oversees the proper implementation of the scholarship program and selects the recipients of the scholarship for that year.

Social awareness programs

Our aid projects help us understand the problems the modern world is facing. Our documentaires and educational programs drive change across societies .

Documentaries

Our documentaries shine a light on community problems in different parts of the world, and present organisations and local unsung heros who benefit from our support. In Poland, the Domino Effect TV series is created in cooperation with TVN - the largest private television in Poland. Through this work, we are able to reach those who might have never heard about a specific issue or the way in which they can help. This partnership results in a number of long form documentaries, which have been recognised at international film festivals. As part of our partnership with the CNN Freedom Project, we also produce a series of documentaries for English speaking audience. The series explores the issues of modern slavery and human trafficking, and is regularly broadcast on CNN International.

Educational programs

Since the beginning of its existence, the Kulczyk Foundation has been working to shape the socio-emotional competences of children and adolescents. We prepare unique lesson plans adapted to various stages of education. These focus on explainining the complex world of universal values and emotions, encourage reflection and the ability to draw conclusions. Ultimately help to build knowledge about ourselves and the world, and to shape attitudes towards the reality that surrounds us. As part of this commitement, we also provide workshops, conferences for teachers and faculty staff. We believe that wise education, implemented in a spirit of freedom and empathy, is a basic component of sustainable development for every human being, as well as a chance for a good start in adult life. No matter where they are from.
